Dr. Booy has been advising meningitis organizations across Australia for the past 3 years. He has spoken twice at the Amanda Young Foundation, a non-profit community organization dedicated to reducing deaths from meningococcal disease in Western Australia, and also at a dinner for the Violet Foundation, another group that is raising awareness about meningococcal disease. In the United Kingdom, Dr. Booy served from 1995-2005 as a media contact; a member of the Scientific Board of the Meningitis Trust; and a panelist for the scientific officer for the Meningitis Research Foundation, which led to the appointment of Linda Glennie.

Founded in 1992 by a group of concerned parents and health
professionals, the Meningitis Centre is a parent led organisation
that provides information and resources to further the vital
public awareness issues relating to meningitis. The Centre
seeks primarily to raise awareness of meningococcal and
pneumococcal meningitis, but also provides information on
other types of meningitis. It also offers support services to
families who have experienced meningitis.
