The Meningitis Research Foundation of Canada (MRFC) is a grassroots initiative born from a mother's tragic loss of her son, Michael Longo. The organisation's mission is to raise funds to promote education and research in order to prevent death and disability from meningitis and other infections of the central nervous system.

• Provide support and education to patients and their families affected by meningitis
• Strive to increase public awareness of meningitis
• Promote better understanding of the disease among healthcare professionals
• Provide funds for research into improved diagnosis, treatment and prevention of meningitis
